about

An experimental suite for solo voice, choir, piano, bells, glockenspiel and double bass, On Thin Ice is primarily a study in atmosphere, marked by brittle dissonances and modal pedals, with textures ranging from static, glacial cool to darkly ominous, reflecting both the fragile beauty of icy landscapes and the threat of climate change which now often accompanies such images in the popular psyche. On Thin Ice combines a studio-based approach with traditional, score-based composition and popular song-influenced forms with minimalist and development-based forms.
