Traces
03:33
|
|||
It's traces
As far as I can see
Under every
Remaining unturned stone
Land in translation
Lost and unknown
It's places
As far as the eye can see
But I can't see
Anything,
Just shadows
In the softening rain

The Lie of the Land
04:17
|
|||
I know
The lie of the land
There's no truth in
Where I stand

Placenames
02:53
|
|||
Put your ear to the ground
And hear
The tolling of placenames
Ringing in change
They can never comprehend.
So they chime and sing,
Knowing no other way;
Lone songbirds in an empty place
Signposts to loss.
There is no other way.

Beaufort's Dyke
01:46
|
|||
Always climbing to reach
The high moral ground
Will leave you
Tired and weary
In a battleground
Where you never wanted to be
Bitter and toxic
Like the poisoned sea.
Beaufort's Dyke is overflowing
Its weapons are washing
Up on the beach -
Best leave them be.

Wanderer
03:20
|
|||
The fleeting thoughts
Of a motorist
Lost and driving
Through the mist
Through the starts and ends of days
Down highways and alleyways
Past lives, graveyards.
The sleeping people.
A wanderer
With a wandering mind
And time to wander.

All in All
03:49
|
|||
By the water's edge
The sum of days
The rock pools and sedge
The swell and the sway
The ebb and flow
The pride and fall
The here and now
Is here and gone
The salt of the earth
On the rising tide
Washed up on the shore
'Til I am no more
No more
Am 'I', I
But
I am, and you I am
After all,
And before,
All in all.
